TIRANA, November 9th 2020 – Albania’s Health Ministry has imposed a nation-wide curfew from 10pm to 6am following a record number of COVID-19 cases reported on Monday.
For a period of 3 weeks, starting November 11th, no one should go out of their homes between 10pm and 6am in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Albania. Bars and restaurants will also be closed from 10pm but delivery services will be allowed.
The new restrictions were announced by the Health Ministry after 525 new cases were reported in Albania on Monday, a record number since the start of the pandemic. Similar to other countries, the capital Tirana has seen the largest spread of the disease. Despite having a relatively low number of case in Saranda, the restrictions will be applied across the entire country.
The health authorities are asking all residents to play their part in the combat of the virus by complying with the new rules and avoid all non-essential activities. Depending on how the situation develops, the measurements will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
