Porto Palermo is a beautiful and unspoiled bay in the Albanian Riviera, located between the villages of Himara and Qeparo. It is mostly known for Ali Pasha’s Porto Palermo Castle, but the bay is also a great place to relax and jump into the crystal clear waters while watching the fishermen at work in the sea.
The coastline in Porto Palermo is very rocky, but there are a few small pebbled beaches where you can just walk into the water, without climbing over rocks. There are a few parking places alongside the coastal road where you can stop to enjoy the views, or jump right into the water! Due to the lack of tourist facilities, the area is very quiet.
The bay of Porto Palermo is very pristine and unspoiled but therefore also very undeveloped. So when it comes to tourist infrastructure, there is not much around. There is a nicely located café in front of Porto Palermo Castle from which you have a great view, but that’s about it.
Since there’s not much around, it’s best to have a car and combine a drive to Porto Palermo Beach with visiting other places along the beautiful Albanian coast. If you’re looking for a place to stay nearby, we would recommend the nearby towns of Qeparo, Borsh or Himara.
